Doomsday Baby

.

Doomsday Baby

It looks like Doomsday isn’t going to happen today, so I’ll just have to  keep getting older. 51 years ago today, this teeny-tiny little woman gave birth to me. I am her baby, and I’m really not as big as I seem in this picture. It’s the comparison that playing against me.

School Memories – Part 6

.

For the remaining Thursdays in 2012 (only two left), I’m working on my School Memories albums.

Finally Scrapbooking 5

I wanted to be finished with it by the end of the year, but that may not happen. “Slow and steady finishes the race” will be my theme with this and future photo projects. If I work on it a little every week, it will get done.

 PP 12

So You Think You’re Crafty is a head-to-head crafting competition, hosted by Missy. Every 10 weeks a new group of crafters is selected.  Each week the crafters are given a theme and YOU vote for your favorite.  The winner makes a free tutorial and the loser gets ‘sent home.’ Season 14 starts on January 7. You can check out past seasons by clicking on the Past Crafts link.

Thank you, Missy, for inviting me to do a guest tutorial.

Love This – Winnie

.

I’ve said it before and, sadly, I know I’ll say it many more times…along with the joy of making friends with the pups & kitties of Blogville comes the broken-heartedness when they leave us. Today is one of those days, as our sweet friend, Winnie, has gone to the Bridge.

Sweet Face Of Winnie

Winnie and her mom, the LOTH (Lady of the House) co-authored Winnie’s Dog Blog.

I could speak volumes about Winnie’s gentle spirit, her sense of humor, her love for her family, but I for one will always remember Winnie as the best hole digger in the entire world. Period.

Digging Winnie

You just have to appreciate a master at work, and when she was done…Winnie would often do a victory lap.

Winnie Victory Lap

I know Winnie is romping, running and excavating heaven. Run free and dig deep, my friend.

In My Studio – December 17

.

Here’s what’s been happening in my studio…

Pinecone 8

For last Wednesday’s “Try This” post, I made a these felt pinecones. I think they turned out nice.

December Card 1

I had my last card club of 2012. We made this cute Santa card…

December Card 2

…and a reindeer card. I think I’m going to redo his eyes. I made the pupils a little too large, giving him a rather intense look.

A Simple List

.

A Simple List

A simple list today. May I reflect on it and do my part.

Do all the good you can,

By all the means you can,

In all the ways you can,

In all the places you can,

At all the times you can,

To all the people you can,

As long as ever you can.

{This Moment} See Beautiful

.

Sugar the Golden Retriever is hosting a {This Moment} See Beautifu Blog Hop. Today’s hop is very special because we are supporting St Anne’s Homeless Center Pet Area in Ogden, Utah. St. Anne’s Homeless Center is very dear to our friend Goose (Gospel of Goose) and his mom, Pastor Michelle. They do a lot of work at the center. Sugar is donating $1 (max $100) for everyone joining in today’s hop.

No way would I miss this chance to assist the pets of folks who need a helping hand. Plus, it’s easy for me to see beautiful because I live with the definitions of beauty…

See Beautiful Freedom

1. the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit.

See Beautiful Casper

2. a particularly graceful, ornamental, or excellent quality.

See Beautiful Nikki

3. a brilliant, extreme, or egregious example or instance.

The goodness doesn’t end there.  If you want to spread even more beauty, See Beautiful will donate $2, up to $1000, to St. Anne’s Homeless Center Pet Area for every picture you submit where you capture “seeing beautiful” through the lens of a camera.  Simply submit a photo that captures what you believe honors “seeing beautiful” to lcrissmays@seebeautiful.com or See Beautiful’s Facebook Page. If you’d like them to include information about the picture or a link to you, include that as well.  There is a wonderful slideshow of submitted photos on See Beautiful’s website. You can submit a photo during the whole month of December.

School Memories – Part 5

.

Finally Scrapbooking 3

I’m working, little by little, on my School Memories album.

Finally Scrapbooking 4

I need to set aside some blocks of time to concentrate on getting it put together. December isn’t the best month for that but hopefully, between doing little bits and  a couple of periods where I can really concentrate, I’ll get it done.

Here’s something clever…

3-in1 Corner Punch

…a 3-in-1 corner punch. I was looking for something to “dress up” my photo mats. This fit the bill…one punch, three different looks.

Try This – Felt Pinecones

.

Pinecone 1

I’ve been wanting to make these for a long time. I saw them in the Better Homes & Gardens Holiday Crafts 2011 magazine. You can find the pattern here.

Pinecone 2

I started by cutting out the pattern pieces.

Pinecone 3

I ironed a piece of freezer paper on to the felt, then traced and cutout the pattern pieces.

Pinecone 4

Following the instructions…

Pinecone 5

…I layered the pieces on a lollipop stick.

Pinecone 6

I cut a piece of wire and wrapped a thin strip of felt around it to form the stem.

Pinecone 7

I glued the stem and a pinked circle of felt on the pinecone to finish.

Pinecone 8

You can make them in your favorite colors or in browns to look more natural.
