You may have heard me mention our lovely vacation to Greyhounds Reach the Beach in Dewey Beach, Delaware, once, twice or even three times.  Greyhound owners can be a little intense with their love of the breed, and I’m finding that intensity extends to Greyhound accoutrement…namely collars.  So, a big part of my vacation shopping time was consumed with collar-mania.

I knew that all the hounds at Dewey Beach would be dressed in their best, so I made sure Freedom, Casper and Nikki had fabulous “Beach” collars.  I fell in love with these batik fabric collars from Around the Hounds.

Pinwheels, Tutti Frutti and Turquoise Dot

Before Dewey Beach, Freedom and Casper had two fancy collars each – Dress and Patriotic.  I wanted to catch Nikki up, so my first purchase was this lovely pink silk collar from Around the Hounds.  I couldn’t decide on a “patriotic” collar for Nikki, so that will come later.

Next, I found these “Just For Fun” collars at 2 Hounds Design.  Alisha Navarro is the creative genius and hound fashionista behind 2 Hounds Design.  It was fun to meet her.

Tetras, Pink Pixel and Disco Dots

Then, we went to The Tree Parlor where my friend, Amy, put together this combination of “Winter” collars.  I loved how they went together but weren’t “matching.”

Finally, I picked up these “Everyday” collars at the G.E.M. Store.

Bones & Dots, Daisy Block and Illusion Bone

And the fun isn’t over.  I met several other collar designers that are sure to be featured in the future.  Let the collar-mania continue!

Wow, you got a great selection of collars! I will have to have a word with my mums and tell them they need to go shopping…

its funny because out of all the blogs I read the Greys are the ones always showing off their awesome collars or talking about them, Its fun how its just automatic with Greys to have a huge stash of collars.

    I LOVE the xmas ones.

Ive wondered if these Grey collars would work on my hounds – the ones that are made for Greys are so pretty compared to normal dog collars.

Kari I know for sure that Around the Hounds and 2 Hounds Design both do buckle collars too in a full range of sizes!!! Let the fun begin!!! I am pretty sure Tree Parlor would too and she has “mommy and me” matching headbands (an upcoming favorite from me)

It’s a sickness. The martingale collars that the Greyhounds use are great for dogs whose necks are larger than their heads. But, never fear…as Amy mentioned in her comment, most collar designer will make the same collar in a buckle design. Now you can be sick too.

Oooooo! Those batik collars are awesome, and I am in love with that one with the candy cane stripes! Bunny has the same pink collar that you got for Nikki, but hers has some rhinestones added. I never saw The Tree Parlor, but I am jealous that you did!

Alisha is just SO nice, and she always remembers me, and she follows our blog, so she fussed over Bunny — and Bunny was thrilled with that! Those gals at the GEM store are fabulous, too! I see them at a lot of Greyhound events and they are all so much fun. Laz even literally rolled out the red carpet for Bunny! lol She didn’t want the hounds to have to walk on the sharp rocks. As an aside, if you ever need something, they send it out from the GEM Store in record time. We needed a stool guard for a muzzle once, ordered from them and got it the next day!

Did you see Couch Potato Outfitters? Gah! I could go on talking about collars all day! I actually own a shirt that says “Collar Addict” on it. *hangs head* There’s a twelve step program for me somewhere, but I don’t want to go!

Wow wee, did I have fun! I did not see Couch Potato Outfitters…drats! I believe I want a t-shirt that says “Collar Addict” too, and no way am I joining any program that aims to cure me. I’m having too much fun being sick!

Lori we are dangerous, aren’t we?! I got 4 from Tree Parlor plus a headband, and 5 from 2 Hounds! I wasn’t really even planning on collar shopping but they were too yummy. I LOVE seeing your collars in sets especially the Winter ones. Your greys should wear them to the Reindog Parade in St Joseph!!! Glad the boys don’t read your blog to know exactly how many we got 🙂

    Love the collars!

Stop on by for a visit!

  • Beautiful hounds you have there! Love Dewey Beach stuff. Boy you sure have a nice collection of collars! Your hounds will be ‘styling’ when they are out at their social events.

Very nice blog really enjoyed it…have started following you. 🙂 I am a fellow Greyhound lover.

You came away with some great styles for your hounds! Collar shopping can be addictive. I’m kind of glad I developed a leopard print addiction of sorts, because now the whippets don’t look “right” in anything else. Also, I bought a Silk Roads collar for Roxie years ago that I just love! I guess we’re pretty much set, but I love your variety. 🙂
