Crazy Quilting – Trim & Stitches

Posted by lori . 11 Comments

.

This summer, I’m participating in a few classes offered by Artful Gathering.  During the first session, I’m taking Crazy Quilting 101.  I did my piecing last week.  This week, I added trim and embroidery stitches.

I added two pieces of trim.

A sequined applique.

And a piece of lace with bead detail.

Then, I added my embroidery stitches.

A herringbone stitch.

A chevron and lazy daisy stitch.

And a feather stitch.

Next week, I’ll add silk ribbon flowers, beading and embellishments.

Daily Inspiration

It is important that students bring a certain ragamuffin, barefoot irreverence to their studies; they are not here to worship what is known, but to question it.

Oh Lori, that is absolutely beautiful! I am in total envy! That is already gorgeous — I can’t wait to see what it looks like when you get it done!

    Wow! That is beautiful! 🙂

So beautiful! Thanks for the inspiration. Who is the beautiful woman in the picture?

The picture of the lady (transferred to fabric) came in the kit I purchased for the class. That’s a good question. I assume she’s from old advertising art. Your question has inspired me. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to do this with a family picture? That would be a true keepsake. Thanks, Kirsten!

  • I always appreciate your comments on my blog. I poke around yours, but I’m not a creative artsy type so I never know what to say. But I love Daisies! 🙂

  • Oh Lori, that is just gorgeous!
You definitely have a flair for crafting.
I am taking a leaf out of your book of trying online classes. I saw one on Craftsy for sewing called the Sassy Librarian Blouse and loved it. I think my dressmaking could use the advice, LOL, so I am going to enrol when I finish the dress and top I am making.

I love online classes. I must say though, if I didn’t have a blog, I probably wouldn’t be as good about completing them. That’s why I love sharing what I’m doing and my progress. It keeps me motivated. I’m a horrible procrastinator. I can’t wait to see the posts about your dressmaking adventures.
