Every Day Ugly – Part 7
.
This year, I’ve been doing an “Every Day Ugly†post on the second Wednesday of every month. Oops! This month, I’m a couple weeks off. What is “Every Day Ugly?” I look around at all the things I use the most, to make sure those are my “best†things. This series was inspired by my friend, Amy, who noticed that some of the ickiest things she owned were the things she used the most. She wanted to change that to make sure that her every day life was filled with beautiful, functional things. This inspired me to take a look around and make sure that I wasn’t saving “the best†for days that rarely come.
This month’s update comes from my friend, Amy, who for under $100 replaced these 20-year-old blinds…
…with this new look. In her words, “So much nicer to look at and out of.”
Thank you, Amy for sharing this wonderful inspiration.
I would love to have you join in. If you have some plain thing that you make beautiful, send me a picture or pictures and tell me about it at whatremainsnow@gmail.com.
And you don’t have to dust them….BONUS!
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
I hate those blinds, because they get dusty so quickly and are a pain to clean.
Really like the curtains.
That looks so much prettier!

I’m a recent convert to blinds. I had 2 windows I’d been agonising over because curtains just wouldn’t be right. Found the perfect blinds and I’m happy now … although I haven’t had to dust them yet!!!
Our new house came with shades, which we were gonna replace, then we ran into the money pit known as osteo, so we held off for a bit. Hopefully we can find blinds that are pretty and easy to dust.
The curtains are great. Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly
I love the sunlight coming in the window
They are perfect, blinds are a pain in the butt..Dust collectors and so outdated now 🙂 xxoxx
Mollie and Alfie
I never liked mini blinds, those curtains are very cute.
She did real good!!!!
Well on my list of fall to dos is the garage…but I’d be too a shamed to send a picture of before. It is just horrid. I meant to get to it in the Spring but well Spring was very chaotic here….so now the plan is this fall. I’m thinking of putting on protective gear from head to toe, standing at one end with the blower and blowing everything to the open garage door. Whatever does not blow out gets to stay!!!
Maybe I’ll be brave enough to send a before and after to you!!
Your curtains and sheers are lovely

I know what you mean. There are plenty of “before” pictures that I wouldn’t want to show. Once, when I did a basement clean-up, I took before and after pictures and showed them to some of my friends. They were so horrified at the “before” pictures that I quit showing them. It got kind of embarrassing (ha).
That is such a great idea, so often we put off enjoyment of the really good things for a special occasion. Why not make every day a special occasion?
I’m with you, Kirsten.
Oh, I love those curtains! I want new curtains, but I have to come up with the money to buy fabric for my stepmom to make roman blinds for me first. I may not make it that long and just break down and buy shower curtains or something! lol
