Greyhound Movie Stars

Did you notice these films have Greyhound movie stars?

Good Will Hunting (1997)

Will takes Skylar to Wonderland Greyhound Park in Revere, Massachusetts and her dog wins!  Minnie Driver, who plays Skylar, actually bet on the race and her dog came in first!  This was her real reaction to winning!  The last live race at Wonderland Greyhound Park was in 2009, and the park closed completely in 2010.

The Young Victoria (2008)

Prince Albert owned Greyhounds.  Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were well known for loving their pets and having a large menagerie around them, but the beloved Greyhound, Eos, was Prince Albert’s exclusively.

Charlie Wilson’s War (2007)

Socialite Joanne Herring (played by Julia Roberts) owned Greyhounds.  Along with her beautiful Greyhound pets, she has beautiful Greyhound art.

I think Greyhounds are just naturally superstars! And guess what? My mom and me were watching “Camelot” one night and when that Guinevere lady and that King Arthur man meet for the first time and they sing that song, “Camelot! Camelot!”, there’s a Greyhound that looks a LOT like our furend Bunny! I thought it WAS Bunny at first but then mom told me that movie was made like 100 years ago, so it couldn’t have been her.

Thank you, Mayzie! You will be seeing “Camelot” in my next installment of “Greyhound Movie Stars.” And the Greyhound looked like Bunny? That must have been one beautiful hound.

We rented Camelot after Mayzie told us about it, and the Greyhound is bigger than Bunny, but he definitely looks like he could be related to her!

Now I have to rent Young Victoria because that’s one I haven’t seen. There have been some really good ones over the years! I’m looking forward to the next installment!

There are a few newer films kingdom of heaven a pack of greyhounds following the princess who is riding horseback. As of really recent I just love the retired racer in 50/50.

I need to see 50/50. I’ve heard good things about it. I want to do another post like this with even more movies, so I appreciate the additional info.

Look up a movie named Hot Chocolate. It is narrated by a black Greyhound.

  • And pretty soon you can add Seven to this post!!!! 🙂 My friend in NY did Charlie Wilson’s War. I was so jealous! They actually prepped her and she had time to train. Her dogs were already trained for obedience, but she had to teach them to follow a new person for that scene where they follow Julia Roberts through a party scene.

There is also and excellent hunt scene with a large number of greyhounds hunting with the pope in a movie called “Luther” starring Joseph Fiannes

  • Karen Kemp says:

Also, Admission with Tina Fey and Paul Rudd, female lead’s mother has 2 greyhounds and there’s a few scenes with them! Pain and Gain features an adorable greyhound (warning: the movie is based on a very disturbing true story and is not for the faint of heart).
