In My Studio – January 16
.
No pretty flowers this week. This week was all “prep” work. Here are some of the things that happened:
I glued the “tails” on all my yarn vase.
I removed the lint and pills from my felted wool sweaters and cut them into more functional pieces. I did this for two reasons, (1) they’ll store better…flatter, and (2) it gives me a better sense of how big the pieces of felt are so I can start imagining what to do with them.
Most of the sweaters yielded three pieces, two sleeves and the body. I did not remove the seams from the sleeves or the body because I might find the seams useful in a future project…for instance, a pillow. A few of the sweaters had a turtleneck or hood, so those sweaters yielded an extra piece. I also saved some cuffs and bands that looked like they could be used.
Going through the sweaters, I decided that approximately half of them needed to go through one more wash and dry cycle. They didn’t appear to be fully felted.
I also gathered up some brass pieces that I’d purchased. This week, I plan to clean them up and prime them for painting.
Nothing exciting, but it felt good to get this work done.

I think I’ll come and live with you and perhaps you’ll make me something nice to wear. Mum’s “crafting skills” stop at sewing up the holes I make in Mr Panda. Hehe! Deccy x
It must feel good to be so creative. Sounds like you always get so much accomplishedas you are very focused. Good for you!!
You are always working on such neat projects!
What a wonderful collection of felted sweaters! A great way creative way to recycle. Most fun coming by your studio. So organized Lori!
Congrats on a busy prep week – I love when I have one of those because that means the stage is set for the fun part!
I like that quote. That was a very smart lady.
I think you did a real good job on your “prep work”! You deserves a treat. Do you like duck jerky or tripe better?

PeeS. Tell Casper I’m super excited that he might enter my contest!
Hmmm…I think I’m going to have to go with the duck jerky.
I love your quote “giving up on being perfect…” how inspirational, and those yarn vases are cool!
Fantastic quote today!
Your felt looks delicious! I don’t know how you can hold back from jumping into your projects!
I think it’s because I live in a state of “overwhelmedness.” I need a trust fund. If I find one, I’ll share with you.
Love the PJ’ !!!!
Really looking forward to seeing your projects!
