In My Studio – June 3
.
Here’s what happening in my studio…
After a few weeks of no painting or crafting, I’m back at it. I can’t say that I’m feeling inspired, but I’m following the old saying from Thomas Edison, “Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration.”
I’m taking the next several weeks to finish up an old project I started years ago…four mini quilts and four matching dolls. This week, I started the Snowy Lady mini quilt.
This Week’s Inspiration
In 2013, I’m doing Inspiration Mondays and Results Thursdays. Every Monday, I’ll post a painting “inspiration†and then on Thursdays, I’ll post how I’m interpreting that inspiration.
Last week’s inspiration was from Kirsten of Peaceful dog…SEASHELLS. Here’s the girl I started, based on that inspiration…
This week’s inspiration comes from Fern of Animal Lover, Quilt Lover…CAT OR DOG.
I love seeing how your paintings develop.
I couldn’t be asked to do that beautiful, but to me fiddly quilt.
It is super fiddly.
Love the dress on the girl!

Lori your talents amaze us. You have so many interests and are very talented in each. Have you always been interested in all these crafts or is it new with retirement? I can tell you one thing everyone NEEDS a hobby /craft or something that keeps their hands and mind busy. My mom never had any interest in crafts etc. She was an avid walker, shopper and reader. I guess it was because her Mom was a seamstress out of necessity with 6 girls. Now that Mom is confined to a wheel chair she cannot walk or shop and no longer likes to read. I wish she had learned some crafts.
I was very lucky to be one of the last grandchildren when my G-ma had extra time on her hands she encouraged me to sew and the rest of my interests grew from her encouragement.

My mom was always working on something and she truly could do it all. I think I first got interested in crafting in my late 20’s, early 30’s. I took a decorative (folk) painting class and a teddy bear making class and that got me hooked.
Such a sweet girl – her hair looks like Mom’s.
Woos – Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
I like the girl’s hair. It is different.
Oh she’s cute, can’t wait to see the final result.
Your seashells girl looks like she would have a good time with her beach hair and spotty dress! Just gorgeous 🙂

Love your girl!

You will feel energized. Sometimes we all go through periods where it seems difficult.
