Inspiration Results – October 17
.
The plan at the beginning of 2013 was that every Monday, I would post a painting “inspiration.†Every Thursday, I would post how I interpreted the inspiration. I decided to do this to keep myself painting, to strengthen how I go from an idea to a painting, and to give myself permission to play and try new things. Because I’m adjusting to a new work schedule, that plan has changed a bit. I’m still taking an “inspiration” and translating it into a painting, but the process is much more step-by-step.
For the rest of year, I’m taking my inspiration from the great ideas you sent me. The first inspiration is AUTUMN. Here’s how she looks so far.
She may not look much different from how she looked on Monday, but I’ve worked on her quite a bit. This is the point where I start making her hair and clothing and face. I paint, and then I change my mind. I paint, and then I change my mind. I keep fussing with her…sometimes a short process, sometimes a long process…until I think it’s okay.
Only the painter sees the flaws!

Totally agree with what Daisy said:)
How about for the next painting you paint and do not change it from the first stroke….now that’s a challenge:)
You aren’t kidding about that being a challenge! I don’t think I could do it because I love painting over things (ha).
Do you get to a part of a painting where you think, ‘I hate this, I am going to throw it out’? I do that with every single one of mine and then towards the end I start to like them.

You bet. I would say there is a point in every one of my paintings where I think, “This will never turn out.” I keep fiddling and pretty soon, it’s okay.
Looking good. Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly
I am not an artist but I can appreciate the need to make it perfect!
Golden LOVE how you did the hair and skirt … we can imagine a wind blowing. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
I wonder what happened to my comment yesterday–b/c I posted one yesterday about your girl in the painting.
Anyway I love the photo of the tree! You truely have an artist eye.
I didn’t read the poem–too long–eye strain!!
It looked like one tree was talking to another tree–spooky!!!!!
I totally understand what your driving at Lori, I can push paper around for hours until it suddenly clicks and I know it’s right. I love seeing your ladies develop, they always finish up being gorgeous. Can’t hurry art that’s for sure.
Love and hugs to you all Sue and the Taylor pack xxx
She’s looking very nice in my opinion! I love the colors you chose for her!
I love the colors. They are very autumny. I think her hair is looking fabulous with the subtle highlights throughout it.
I just love this girl!
It’s going to be interesting to see how much she changes. Lovely Autumn colours so far.
