It’s Official

This was in my mailbox on Wednesday.  It’s official…I’ll never have to pay for a small drink at Wendy’s ever again.  Oh, and I’m old.

I find myself wanting less, the older I get.  Wanting less in a world of “more” is tricky to navigate, but that’s where I’m headed.  Here are a few areas in my life that I’ve been thinking about:

1.  Menu planning and cooking – I’m a mess in the kitchen.  I need a really simple plan.

2.  Blog reading – I only have a few blogs that I remember to read faithfully.  There are more that I would like to follow on a regular basis, but I don’t know how to “organize” this area of my life.

3.  Photography – I want to take better pictures.  Reading through my camera’s owner manual would give me a big boost in this area, but what about programs like Photoshop?  That seems so complicated.  What’s the best way to learn?

4.  Lawn and landscaping – There is no other way to put it…I hate yard work.  I want it to look nice with the least amount of work.

I love to hear your ideas.  What help do you have for me in these areas?  What works for you?

Well, for blog reading, I can suggest Google Reader. It will help you a lot, and the more you play with it, the easier it is to use.

For photography, I suggest getting the best camera you can afford, and spending time playing with it. There are a couple of photo blogs that I follow that have helped me a lot. One is Shutterhounds http://mralexthedog.blogspot.com/, another is It’s A Greyt Day, http://greyhoundgardens.com/itsa-greyt-day/. They are both fantastic Greyhound photographers and I can only dream of being that good. I use Photoshop Elements, and I still don’t use it to its full potential, but the more I play around with it, the more I learn from it. You can take classes about how to use Photoshop, and if I ever get the full version I might think about doing that.

If you come up with a simple gardening plan, let me know what it is! Mine is always completely out of control by this time of year! lol

Thank you, Carrie. I am going to work with Google Reader more. I think that will help.

I do enjoy It’s a Greyt Day but wasn’t familiar with Shutterhounds! Photoshop is probably way more than I need. I’m sure it would be fun, but I do have three Greyhounds to keep in the lifestyle to which they have become accustomed (translation…not so much money anymore).

I am determined to get rid of most of my yardwork. It’s just not my thing, I’ll keep you posted if I come up with anything brillant.

Hmmm how to learn Photoshop? Ask your graphic designer friend Amy!!! You know the one who loves to share. Just say when 🙂
