J. K. Rowling
Did you know that J. K. Rowling, the creator and author of the Harry Potter books, is a greyhound owner? Her family adopted Sapphire from Greyhound Rescue Fife in Scotland. Greyhound Rescue Fife asks for a £40 donation when someone adopts one of their hounds. The owner, Celia Fernie, didn’t recognize the famous author, who had set-up the appointment under the name “Jo Murray” (the “J.” in “J. K.” stands for Joanne, and Murray is her husband’s last name). After the family selected Sapphire, the “lady” wrote a check for £1,000 and signed it J. K. Rowling. Visit Greyhound Rescue Fife’s website and click on the “Harry Potter Page” to see more adorable pictures of Sapphire and her brother, Butch.
Why her wants to be so secretive? Her ain’t as a good as writer as me! Bwhahahaha! Okay seriously, dat is cool. First, I am pleased to knows her adopted from a rescue and even more pleased dat hers gave them extra money cuz rescues always need it.
Yea, I’m not sure if I would say mum was brave…I’m thinking stoopid would would be a better word. But, sometimes her don’t do alot of thinking…unlike me.
Puddles
The ONLY way this could have been cooler was if she had a greyhound AND a doxie.
Oh, Miss Lori, you’re wrong! The ONLY way it could have been cooler is if she’d adopted a tiny blue fawn Greyhound like me!
Do you want to know a secret, though? We follow the blog of Leanna Renee Heiber and I commented a while back about an excerpt she’d posted and said that it would have been perfect if a Greyhound was in it. And you know what? She said there’s going to be a character named Bunny in the new book she’s working on (not the new one coming out next month). That’s right and she’ll be an animal activist! At least, that’s what Ms. Heiber said. I’m betting Puddles can’t top that!
Bunny
That is awesome! I am not familiar with Ms. Heiber’s books (but I checked out her website). Would you recommend her books? I am very weak in the fantasy genre. I hope I didn’t hurt your feelings…but there’s only ONE tiny blue fawn Greyhound like you!
No feelings are hurt! Her books are actually pretty good! Mom really liked the Strangely Beautiful series, even though it’s not her particular usual style either.
