April 23
National Greyhound Adoption Month
.
April is National Greyhound Adoption Month. Why would you want to adopt a Greyhound? According to Freedom, Casper and Nikki, adopting a Greyhound can help with, if not completely solve life’s important issues. For instance…
Fashion fades, only style remains the same. Coco Chanel
Freedom: Do you have style? If so, we’ll add to it. If not, we’re automatic style.
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10 (KJV)
Casper: What with collars, matching leads, tags, coats, plushy beds, toys, treats…we’ll make sure you have no money, and you’ll never be happier about it.
There is nothing on this earth more to be prized than true friendship. Thomas Aquinas
Nikki: When you have a Greyhound, you’ll have as many friends as your floor will support.
2012 Allies for Greyhounds of West Michigan Spring Fling
The bond that links your family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other’s life. Richard Bach
Casper: When you adopt a Greyhound, you also join the Greyhound Cult Family.
If you ask what is the single most important key to longevity, I would have to say it is avoiding worry, stress and tension. And if you didn’t ask me, I’d still have to say it.Β George Burns
Nikki: Watch us and learn. We’re masters of relaxation. We’ll have you living for a very long time.
Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.Β Lao Tzu
Freedom: We will make you brave and strong.
Thank you, Freedom, Casper and Nikki. I would agree with you on all points. If you are considering a new addition to your family, give a Greyhound a look. To find a group in your area, checkout the Greyhound Adoption Group Directory. Our group is Allies for Greyhounds of West Michigan.
Once you have a Greyhound (or any pet), you’ll want to get them some neat stuff. The Pet Blogger MallΒ is new and exciting…a place you can go to purchase products made by pet bloggers. It is currently under construction, but you can sign-up to receive progress notifications. Sounds like a lot of fun.
Bunny and Blueberry completely agree with everything you said, and so do I! I’m convinced!
Those are some great lessons learned by owning a greyhound. I love the picture of the greyhound gang sleeping on the floor. That’s a lot of greyhounds!
A lot of people have rescue greyhounds in our area. They’re velvet soft and I can’t stop petting them at dog parks.
A really fab post. Polly totally agrees with everything you’ve said:)
Wall to wall greyhounds…..bliss.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
such beautiful dogs I love this post
urban hounds
What a beautiful post. May all the greyhounds in need find wonderful loving homes!
Okay, for a second there I thought I’d truly lost my mind (which is always a distinct possibility!). I was getting ready to post this comment and saw the second comment from “Kat,” saw the light blue background (the approximate shade of the water in my avatar pic’), and thought “I have absolutely no memory of commenting already!!! Turns out it wasn’t me π
Anyway, I *LOVE* this post….I may have to “borrow” it…well, link to it in a similar post about Greyhound Adoption month…
The shot of all the ‘kids’ each in their own beds…makes me want to rush out and adopt more! But shhhhh, don’t tell LoML….he doesn’t know that! π
Borrow it to your heart’s content! Always hoping to help more Greyhounds find their forever homes.
I love being in the greyhound cult!!!
So after Bunnies post a while back, and now yours, I want a greyhound.
So true so true! I am impressed with how many friends you have there! And I think I could relax with ya anytime!
You could! New friends are always welcome.
Wish I could join the Greyhound cult but I am already being relieved of all my money by avaristic chihuahuas!

I had to look up “avaristic”…excessive desire for material gain and greediness after gain. Surely you have used the wrong word to describe Dip, Bridge & Elliot. At least, Elliot.
What a very well done Post! The quotes and commentary were pawesome! And we always love seeing your pups. We send all our good wishes for many greyhounds to be rescued into wonderful forever homes.
Woos – Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning

I have had 2 and a half sight hounds—- Bambi was half whippet and half lab. They are the most wonderful dogs there is!!!!
I miss my dogs but I know it is better for me to have the cats now!! Circle is my dog now!!!! LOL
What pretty pups! I love dogs. They are the best companions. And look at all those greyhounds laying on their pillows being good, aww!
We think you don’t really need any reason to adopt another greyhound! But we do like your living room floor! Cult it is indeed…
Agreed! Greyhounds stole my heart many moons ago and there is definitely a part of my heart that beats Grey and will always need to have one (at least) in my life!
I love all your quotes and what a wonderful post:) Of course I don’t need any convincing but greyt posts like this might help sway other people!
Quite right, on all points! I look at my two sleeping peacefully, and I’m content. Their contentment rubs off – and they are excellent at removing the stress of money!
I miss Tia. So neat to see her with all of the others on the beds! Lucky we went to Dewey Beach right after she was adopted. I have been blessed to have had so many super sweet fosters… Tia, Pippa, Shadow, Salsa, Lola, Lisa, Nikki… Sorry Casper but you fit in the goofball category π
I have always wanted a greyhound! But I love my heelers too!
Well really I couldn’t have put it better myself. We really are style personified. If I wasn’t a bloke, I might change my name to Coco Chanel…… Deccy x
Greyt post! We completely agree π
