Photo Albums – Week 1

.

Hey!  Aren’t there supposed to be photos in this album?

If I could pick a project I wish I would take care of, it would be to organize my photos and put some of them in albums…but, I never do it!  I imagine this is because…

1.  It’s a HUGE project.  Even though I’ve never been one to take a lot of photos, over the years they’ve added up.

2.  I don’t have a clear vision of what I want in the end.

3.  It’s difficult to decide what to keep and what to toss because everything is emotionally-charged.

4.  The look of the albums should be what?  I never can decide.

I’m open for any helpful advice.  I’m going to dig in and get this done…finally.

Daily Inspiration

A person is neither whole nor healthy without the memories of photo albums.  They are the storybook of our lives.  They provide a nostalgic escape from the tormented days of the present.

We have very few photos from before we started blogging, but now there are hundreds! They are all on the PC though – Mum just gets the odd few printed, usually as a present for Ganny! x

  • Would you believe I just spent the last 2 days going through a lifetime of pictures? I’ve chucked a lot over the years, maybe close to 50% but there were still 4 boxes of loose photos (now 3) and a cast iron box of albums too. And of course, there are a few thousand on the wolverine and computer. I wish I wasn’t so click happy.

I just bought a bunch of photo boxes to stick our old photos in. 😛 I was an avid scrapbooker at one time, but I haven’t worked on it any in a long time. Plus, I have the digital camera now, instead of good old film. I can’t imagine catching up with the scrapbook now! lol

  • I feels you pain…honestly I do. We has overs a gazillion fotos cuz mum went to an art school fur high school and did fotography…so da fotos start from there. Her has all da negatives from film in sleeves in a notebook along withs da correspondin’ contact sheet. Da hall closet is just furs dat stuff.

Puddles…You are remarkable! You’re right, it is Cosmo Cricket. I had even forgotten that. Now I just need to remember where I stashed the paper that came with this set.

We desperately need to create photo books! Our photos are a big mess!

It gives me a headache just thinking of making a photo album. I should make one of our travels, but it seems overwhelming to me. Good luck! I’m interested to see how you do it.

Digital photos and blogging have really helped me feel organized and keep track of valuable memories in a way that feels productive. I have a couple of albums worth of photos from before I got a digital camera, and a few packets of photos that are as yet unarranged, and I’m OK with that. Would it help to buy yourself a couple of nice photo albums, and just start arranging one years worth of photos chronologically? Sounds to me that just starting on the project might make you feel it’s less overwhelming.

I have loads of photos of Song to put into yet another album. I do Scrapbooking, so it takes longer. I think with Polly I will start an album as soon as she arrives and put the photos in as I take them.

  • Kat says:

Yep, those are pretty much my reasons too.
