Quotable Quotes

Back in September, I was thinking about what What Remains Now will look like in 2012.  For some reason, I can’t link back to that specific post (it was September 18) so I’ll recap here:

Currently, I write about a recurring set of subjects each day of the week…Mondays – Creativity, Tuesdays – 4 Favorite Things, Wednesdays – Greyhounds, Thursdays – Crafts, Fridays – Favorite Movies, Saturdays – Favorite Books, Sundays – Whatever.

I want to revamp that schedule in 2012 to keep things fresh and to give myself a new challenge.  Here’s what I’m thinking about:

In the Kitchen –  I’m not good in the kitchen or with entertaining.  I’d like to make peace.  This would encompass a variety of things…not just recipes.

If I Died Today – What would I wish I’d taken care of, if I died today?  When my ex-husband died recently, it made me think of a lot of things.

Lori’s Lists – Lists on all types of things.  I love lists, and I think I could have a lot of fun with this.

Creativity – Currently, this is one of my favorite days to write, and I’m not finished with this topic.

What I’m Working On – A peek inside my “studio” and what I’m working on.

Love This – All the things I love…always or just today.

Whatever – A day to write about whatever I’d like.

I haven’t settled on these categories, so I’d love to get some feedback and suggestions from you.  What do you think?  What do you like to read about?

You may have noticed, with some dismay, that I don’t have a Greyhound day!  If you didn’t notice, I assure you, three hounds around this house did.  Although there is plenty of room within these subjects to talk about Greyhounds and pets,  Freedom, Casper and Nikki want more.

“I need smart words to go under pictures of my cute face in 2012.”

So, I’m thinking of including a picture at the end of each post with a quote.  Many, many days, that picture will be of Freedom, Casper and/or Nikki.  Here’s my question…What is your favorite quote?  Do you know of a great source for quotes?  Let me know, either by leaving a comment or emailing me at whatremainsnow@gmail.com.  I would love to hear from you.

  • Great QUOTE Shares! Love the doggie pic too!

Pinterest has the best quotes. Look at my “positive thoughts” board to see a sampling.

Love the new lineup. For kitchen i think we should do an Anna and Christina type take on cooking several recipes together some saturday. I entertained some co-workers yesterday using a recipe I learned in cooking class and was shocked to find out 2 hours before guests were arriving that cooking beans needed as a main ingredient takes 2.5 hours (not counting actually making the recipe after that!) Luckily an hour late dinner turned out yummy. Apparently the chef did this step before class. See we could have great fiascos to share 🙂

Can’t wait for your lists and insights!

I really do need to get on Pinterest! I don’t think you’re going to be able to convince me to get in front of a camera. I’m sure your little persuasive self will keep trying though.

    • Amy Cross says:

oh heavens no we wouldn’t film it!!!! Just pick several recipes and try to make them together by a certain time. You could WRITE about the funny problems we ran into.

    • lori says:

That is totally do-able. I thought you had lost your mind.

  • Gwen says:

    Your pink vase is adorable.

  • I think you should write whatever you want to, whenever you want to – and I think the new ideas sound great.

I am sure Freedom, Casper and Nikki photos will round off the blog posts perfectly whatever the subject.

Winnie…I think I’ve stumbled upon the magic solution to make every post wonderful…Greyhound picture at the end. How could that be bad?

  • Serena says:

I find a rigid format hard to keep on task but, if you like habit, then go for it. I did notice that you didn’t include a Greyhound category for 2012 and I instantly hoped that you will still include them in your posts. I love dogs! Cute pic, btw.

There are tons of amazing quotes out there. If you google ‘quote sites’, it will bring up heaps.

    Happy AEDM,
    Serena

  • Had to pop in, I love greyhounds & when I saw your button knew I had to say hello… wow in the middle of a makeover too… the dog’s photo’s would be a wonderful idea with quotes… I love a quote from childhood… Doesn’t matter if you win or lose, as long as you do your best, that’s all you can do 🙂

  • Kat says:

Um, yeah…greyhounds need to be part of everything! But then, you already knew that, didn’t you? My hubby loves finding quotes on http://www.brainyquote.com and he’s found some great ones there. I’m sure whatever you decide will be wonderful!

I really like your Favorite Four lists, but I really like all your new ideas. I think no matter what you decide to do, it will be beautiful and creative. No post can be bad with a Greyhound photo in it! lol

I really like today’s artwork, too! Well, there haven’t been any I didn’t like, but some I like more than others! 😛

    A favorite quote…

“Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others, cannot keep it from themselves.” James Barrie

“Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.” Confucious

“Nobody can understand the true meaning of love unless he’s owned a dog. A dog can show you more honest affection with a flick of his tail than a man can gather through a lifetime of handshakes.” Gene Hill

The AEDM challenge has been challenging for me, but great. Since I have to do something every day, I don’t have the luxury of fussing too much over it and that’s truly what I need right now. I have to break out of the bonds of perfectionism.

Thank you for the quotes. You’ll be seeing them in 2012!

I found your blog via AEDM … I own 2 Italian Greyhounds, Luigi and Tulip 🙂 Someday I hope to rescue a retired racer, there are a couple local rescue groups dedicated to the Greyts and one for the IG’s too 🙂

Life is a journey with some rather exquisite rest atreas along the way.
