Road Trip Souvenirs

Posted by lori . 17 Comments

I love bringing home souvenirs to remind me of trips and special times. The road trip I took with my mom and one of my sisters was no exception. Here are the souvenirs I picked up that will remind me of this special trip for years to come.

From Shaker Village, Kentucky…a Shaker broom.

Shaker Broom

This broom was handmade by a craftsman. It’s even signed.

This is a picture of Billy. Thank you, Billy. I will use and treasure this broom for years to come.

Shaker Village 9

From Juliette, Georgia…an old bottle (the one on the right).

Old Bottles

This is a new collectible for me. I love finding a bottle from the area I’m visiting. This one is from Forsyth, Georgia.

Georgia Bottle Detail

From Senoia, Georgia…handcrafted “walker” bits. These were made by Andrea Faye of Peachtree City, Georgia.

Zombie Pieces

What is your favorite souvenir to bring back from a trip?

My favourite souvenir is from my one and only holiday abroad. I went to Spain with a friend for two weeks. I bought a little pottery house. it had No.7 on it. Where I now live is No. 7:)

Those are some cool souvenirs I really like the broom Ive alwyas thought Shakers were fascinting. I dont have too many souvenirs, as I rarely travel, and when I have I really havent bought souvenirs. I do like anything with a vintage vibe though

  • Love the broom. With Pip being old we don’t go anywhere anymore. Big sigh but she is not up to it so we put her first. Have a tremendous Thursday.
    Best wishes Molly

  • On our big trips we have started collecting masks. They adorn our walls and remind us of the great time we had.

Love your new treasures. I collect t-shirts and magnets. However, we do not have a place for our magnets right now, so I haven’t bought any in a few months.

Those are great. I like your broom! I love bringing home magnets from everywhere I have been. Sometimes I will spot one up on the fridge and think about the time there.

  • Those are super cool treasures you have collected 🙂 xx00xx

I see you have experience with Shaker brooms. Its superior sweeping ability is what convinced me to buy it. We were watching Billy make a broom and he handed all of us one and said, “Sweep with it.” We joked with him that that’s how he keeps his work area cleaned…unsuspecting tourists. It was such a pleasure to sweep with, I wanted to sweep up his entire shop. I was sold.

  • If I had brought a broom home my sons would be asking if I had taken it for a spin yet 🙂

We never go on trips but 20 + years ago when we did go on a trip we just brought pictures back!! Too much money to go anywhere now a days!!

  • Daisy says:

Don’t really bring back souvenirs anymore–too much dusting.

Handmade is one thing. Handmade just for you while you watch is way cool.

Those are very unique souvenirs. How will you display the broom?

I personally like to collect shot glasses from places I’ve been. Typical 20something year old, I suppose. I don’t drink though…

I plan on using the broom, so it will be a happy reminder of our trip every time I sweep up the kitchen. I have warned my husband, that I’d better not catch him using it to sweep up the garage. He’s ruined more brooms than I can count.

Er what are “walker bits”? Love the bottle – we have a couple similar on our kitchen windowsill. Love any sort of glass. Interesting see the broom being made too.
