Try This – Felt Pinecones
.
I’ve been wanting to make these for a long time. I saw them in the Better Homes & Gardens Holiday Crafts 2011 magazine. You can find the pattern here.
I started by cutting out the pattern pieces.
I ironed a piece of freezer paper on to the felt, then traced and cutout the pattern pieces.
Following the instructions…
…I layered the pieces on a lollipop stick.
I cut a piece of wire and wrapped a thin strip of felt around it to form the stem.
I glued the stem and a pinked circle of felt on the pinecone to finish.
You can make them in your favorite colors or in browns to look more natural.

Isn’t it amazing how everything comes together when you know how. I wonder who first figured out how to make these pine cones! Love your daily inspiration.
Oh my gosh! They are fantastic! I am definitely going to try them, I love them. They would look so nice in a bowl with different colours. I have a crochet pattern for pinecones too.

What a fab idea.
Ooooh, those look GREAT!! I might have to try them myself. I wonder if they’d sell on our Brambleberry Greyhounds M&G table?
Seems like everyone likes them, so I’m sure they’d sell. It was a lot of cutting…not horrible, but I could feel it a little in my wrist after I cut out the pieces for these two.
Very pretty! I might need to try this next year, this year I am really behind in my knitting and getting nervous

Cute! You could do make a lot of decorations with these.
Oooooooo! I really love those, and I’ve been wanting to add pinecones to our tree for a long time, but I’ve never found any that I liked. If I can find a few minutes, I may have to try that!
Thank you for your Christmas card you sent me. We just added you to our blog. Your greyhounds are beautiful..my mom really liked your pinecones and thought it may be something she could make with her grandmonsters….( i think she is a dreaming cos she has trouble cooking, sewing, walking…et.c..cetc…)
Merry Christmas

You have such awesome ideas! You should write a book! π
Wow, those are really amazing! One of my favorites yet.
Those are so cool! They’d make great ornaments on the tree, especially when a certain Dachshund eats the real ones! π

Great Pine Cones! Our yard is full of BIG ones from the big pine tree, but they ate not the lovely colors you used!
