Inspiration:
Creative Matting and Framing by Trice Boerens – Pg 48 (Once Upon a Time Mat)
Supplies:
Old Book
Mat & Frame
Adhesive
Scissors (I used deckle-edge scissors)
1. Tear into pieces words and images from the book and arrange them on the mat. I wanted the images to go completely around the inner edge of the mat; so I first glued down large pieces directly on the inner edge, then didn’t have to be so particular when I trimmed and glued down the pictures that I wanted from the book.
2. Trim the pieces, apply adhesive to the backs and press in place, overlapping the edges.
3. Wasn’t that easy? You now have a beautiful, handcrafted picture frame mat.

My husband and I have two greyhounds, Freedom & Casper. Loving greyhounds is deep, total and tinged with more than a hint of “crazy.â€Â Our houndies came to us through Allies For Greyhounds of Western Michigan. As you get to know our “kids,†you may find that you need one (or two or three or…) of your own. Find out more about greyhounds and rescue groups in your area by going to The Greyhound Project, Inc.

Mrs. Meyer’s Countertop Spray
Smell is important to me and that’s why I like this product. It makes me want to clean. Do I need to say more? My favorite is Basil.
Blistex Medicated Lip Ointment
This is my favorite lip product. It makes my lips feel soft, not waxy, slick or sticky.
QVC
I like the presentations, the hosts and the brands. I’ve come to trust their quality, value and convenience (that’s why they’re called QVC). I’m a QVC Queen…I admit it.
Puffs With Lotion
Remember when the common cold meant losing all your nose skin? Tissues with lotion changed that. These are my favorite.

Hmmm…where to begin? How do I become “creative?â€Â That’s what I was thinking when I decided to begin this journey. When my daughter was little, I remember picking up a copy of The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. At that time, I was just happy to make it through the day, but what I’d seen stuck with me. I found a copy and the back of the book offers this…“Cameron’s original, groundbreaking twelve-step program, the essential first step on the path to creative recovery.â€Â I’ve no idea what will happen or if it will work but it sounds like a start, so let’s give it a try.

I like New Year’s resolutions. I use them as guides, laying them out simply and expanding throughout the year.
Here are mine for 2011…
1. Blog and see where it leads
2. Simplify
3. Learn and challenge myself
4. Create
5. Love better
What are your resolutions?

What Remains Now…that was my question when my daughter left for college. I’ve got ideas, but this is going to be a journey. One thing I’d like to do is get back in touch with my creativity. This blog is a part of that. It’s my way of “putting it out there” and seeing what happens. I’ll tell you about who I am, things I love, what I’m doing and along the way discover…What Remains Now. Join me.
